How to move around Trujillo?

TRUJILLO

We have many tourists visiting Trujillo everyday; these tourist are looking for the cheapest way to move around  Trujillo city. In this post we explain what  plubic buses you should take to go around the principal atractions in Trujillo.

We have 3 important places that no one wants to miss.

But first, we have to know the map of Trujillo.

As we can see in this map, Trujillo downtown is closed by an avenue called ''ESPAÑA''.
In the colonial times it was a big wall that was protecting the city.
These days you can walk along this avenue and stop in the same place you started, it's important that all of you know this, because thanks to this map we will have a change to take the buses in order to get into the atractions.
We'll always start in the main square walking to different avenues and then we will take the different buses.

1.- THE SUN AND THE MOON THEMPLE (HUACAS DEL SOL Y LA LUNA, MOCHE)

This archeological site is considered the top one in Trip Advisor. Many tourists wants to get here.
If you want to come here and you don't feel like taking a tour or paying (12-15 PEN) for a taxi, you will love to pay 1.50 PEN instead.

Now that you know the downtown and España avenue, you can follow this map:

In this map we can see the best way to take this small bus to ''Huacas del Sol y la Luna''.
We start in the main square walking along Orbegoso Av., we across España avenue and keep walking after 3 more blocks. Then, we'lll stop in a big Avenue called ''Los Incas'' (we don't have to across the Street); here we're going to stop and wait for these small busses. The green line is the path that the bus follows, so you can take the bus anywhere in this path.

Some picturess of how these busses look like:

After you take the bus, you just need to relax and enjoy the show in these transportation.
After 25 minuts you will arrive in the last stop, the museum, here you should  buy the tour tickets and then walk to the Moon Themple. You've to give your ticket to the guides in charge and wait for the tour (they make you wait for 25 minuts aprox). You'll meet some other people for the same tour. In this case the guide is included with your ticket (10PEN), but remenber, you should tip the guide, we tip guides and waiters in Perú.

2.- CHAN-CHAN

This is the second place on the Trip Advisor Ranking in Trujillo.

Let's see how you can arrive here.
To get to Chan Chan we find so many different ways, there are more than 5 different busses that pass around, so you've more options to take the bus in different avenues in Trujillo. However, as we said, we'll try to show the easiest way to get in this place starting from the Main Square.

You've to follow Independencia Av. and keep walking until España Av. Here, you should accross the street and wait for the busses. These buses are the same ones that go to Huanchaco, so the process is the same.
If you go to Chan Chan, tell the ''cobrador'' (the guy who calls the people and collect the money in the bus) that you want to stop in Chan Chan, it costs about 1.50PEN.
When you arrive in Chan Chan you have to accross the street and follow the way to tshudi  palace, the one that is opened for tourist.
In Chan chan, you can buy a ticket for four different places, Tshudi, the museum, Huaca Esmeralda, Huaca Arco iris. if you want to visit all those, you should  better take a taxi.
The ticket is 10PEN, but the tour guide is not included, however you can visit without a guide, it's up to you.
This would be smart to go in groups and get a tour guide for 50-60 PEN.

3.- HUANCHACO

To get to Huanchaco, starting from the main square is the same process as to go to Chan Chan, so follow the same map and keep going in the way.
Huanchaco is the best option for a beach in the north coast of Peru for surfing, relaxing, food and local people are kind. Also, you can't miss contempling the Caballitos de Totora, the first surf boards in the world!

The buses to Huanchaco and Chan Chan look like this:
